We love Brunch at the Solomon Household. Brunch can be elegant and fancy or it can be a cozy, fun way to gather your family around the table without the usual dinner rush.

But when you have picky eaters, you need options that are easy, adaptable, and mess-resistant.

Here are three go-to family brunch ideas that check all the boxes: quick, tasty, and completely kid-friendly.

1. Pancake Dippers with Fruit & Yogurt

Why it works: Kids love to dip things, and pancakes are a classic win.

How to make it:

  • Make mini pancakes
  • Serve with small bowls of:
    • Maple syrup
    • Fruit puree or yogurt
    • Sliced bananas, strawberries, or blueberries

Bonus tip: Use cookie cutters to make pancakes into fun shapes!

👧 Great for picky eaters who like to keep food “separate” but interactive.

2. Egg Muffin Cups

Why it works: They’re protein-packed, easy to hold, and endlessly customizable.

How to make it:

  • Whisk 6–8 eggs in a bowl
  • Add diced veggies, shredded cheese, or cooked sausage
  • Pour into greased muffin tin
  • Bake at 375°F for 20 minutes until firm

Custom ideas:

  • Bacon + cheddar
  • Spinach + feta
  • Bell peppers + mushrooms
  • Include whatever vegetables or meat you family enjoys

💡 Freeze leftovers for quick weekday breakfasts!

3. DIY Breakfast Burritos

Why it works: Everyone builds their own = fewer complaints.

What you need:

  • Scrambled eggs
  • Tortillas
  • Optional add-ins:
    • Avocado slices
    • Shredded cheese
    • Salsa
    • Bacon or sausage
    • Vegetables

Let kids assemble their own creations

🌮 Tip: Warm tortillas in a damp paper towel in the microwave to keep them soft.

Family brunch doesn’t need to be fancy or stressful. With a few flexible ingredients and a bit of creativity, you can serve a meal that pleases toddlers, teens, and tired parents alike.

Whether it’s a Saturday tradition or a once-in-a-while treat, these brunch ideas are about more than food—they’re about slowing down and making memories.

DIY Laundry detergent

DIY Laundry Detergent In our household Laundry is a must every single day. One load a day keeps the laundry away. We are a family of six and I like to be prepared just in case we are out of our favorite Rustic Strength Laundry detergent; would I know a simple recipe to keep our clothes clean? As I teach my children, I am reminded to always consider myself as a student as well, so that I can continue to have a mindset to learn. This DIY laundry detergent is a simple way to keep clothes clean and fresh.   2 cups Soap flakes: I prepare my own soap flakes by using Dr. Bronners castile bar soap and using my food processor to shred the bar into pieces. You can also purchase the soap flakes that are already prepared to use. 1 cup Washing soda: There are many brands, but I have used this one and it works well. This product is used to brighten the clothes and remove stains. 1 cup Borax: Eliminates odors, brightens clothes, softens hard water.  Optional: 4 drops essential oil Use 2-3 tablespoons of this detergent per load depending on the size of load and how soiled the clothes are. I make a large batch of this detergent since we are a bigger family. Fabric Softener: 1-2 tablespoons of 30-45% vinegar. We have hard water, so the vinegar combined with the other products really helps to remove odor and stains.
